01 · The challenge
Translate the cause.
Deliver the effect.
A revised cause-and-effect schedule required new ESD circuits, shutdown hardware and a coordinated shipyard installation plan.
Monitor Systems surveyed the rig, captured the engineering requirements and designed standalone fire-and-gas and ESD systems to meet the shutdown philosophy and DNV requirements.

02 · The installed system
One control centre.
Three remote points.
The system combines a central processing enclosure in the control room with intrinsically safe remote enclosures positioned around the rig.
- Central PLC processing and control enclosure
- Three intrinsically safe remote ESD panels
- HMI status, alarms, diagnostics and event logs
- Pump controls and staged shutdown levels
03 · Human control
Protected actions.
Visible status.
Guarded shutdown controls and clear HMI feedback give operators direct action alongside system status and diagnostic information.

04 · Engineering delivery
Designed for class.
Proven at the yard.
The scope covered survey, system engineering, manufacture, PLC and HMI configuration, documentation, shipyard installation in Dundee, commissioning and DNV approval.
- Shutdown integrityNew circuits implement the required staged ESD actions.
- Distributed accessRemote stations place protected shutdown controls around the rig.
- Operator insightThe touchscreen presents status, alarms, diagnostics and event history.
- DNV approvalDesign and delivery were completed for class compliance.
